• Sheet pile wall comprising partially coated double sheet piles, type tkI 603, with a length of seven metres

Challenge/client’s problem

• The new station is adjacent to a biotope. A 350-metre-long sheet pile wall was erected to provide protection for the biotope and to serve as a retaining wall for the platform
• Partial coating of the sheet pile wall on the visible section to provide Corrosion protection
• The sheet pile wall was erected at a time when train services were running, in extremely confined spaces (a 4-metre-wide working area)
• Very limited space for positioning the piles
• Protection of the biotope remained a high priority during the construction work (use of bio-oil in all machines, high-frequency, low-vibration technology for driving the double sheet piles, use of excavator mats for the temporary Site road)
