terra infrastructure Reports Positive Results Following Three Industry Events
Three events, numerous technical discussions, and significant interest—particularly in VibroDrill technology: terra infrastructure showcased its offerings at Geofluid in Piacenza, the Drilling Technology Days in Bad Zwischenahn, and the 39th Ground Engineering Conference in Leipzig. In addition to presenting the Drilling procedures, the focus was primarily on current projects, technical developments, and establishing new contacts in the field of special civil engineering.
At Geofluid in Piacenza, Italy (October 7–10), manufacturers, construction companies, planners, and clients from the fields of drilling technique, geotechnical engineering, and special civil engineering gathered. terra infrastructure showcased products from its wide range of services in special civil engineering. These include, among other things, solutions for excavation shoring as well as pile driving, pile extraction, and shoring technology, but also hydraulic bracing and rotary drilling rigs, which have recently been added to the portfolio. Furthermore, VibroDrill technology was the focus of technical discussions. In addition to how the process works, discussions centered on which construction methods are suitable for different tasks and which technical and economical factors influence the choice of method. “We view VibroDrill technology not as a method for specific drilling tasks, but as an alternative to conventional hammer and twin-head drilling methods,” says Dipl.-Ing. Robert Haupt, Deputy Head of Sales for Germany at terra infrastructure. “Against this backdrop, the technology can replace these methods in many areas of application.”
In addition, terra infrastructure used the trade show to learn about developments among international competitors and to establish contacts with specialized civil engineering firms. B. Eng. Johannes Müller, International Sales for Drilling Technique at terra infrastructure, confirms this: “Geofluid is a great opportunity for us to engage with international specialized civil engineering firms. Of particular interest was the discussion about which drilling procedures are used for different construction projects and which technical developments are emerging on the market.”
From Copenhagen to Hong Kong
At the Drilling Technology Days in Bad Zwischenahn (September 16 and 17), the focus was on drilling procedures, Machinery, and practical experience. The event is aimed in particular at drilling companies, machinery manufacturers, planners, and geotechnical engineers. terra infrastructure was represented with an information booth and participated in the lecture program. In a presentation titled “From Copenhagen to Hong Kong: Practical Experience with Vibrodrill Drilling Technique,” Johannes Müller reported on the use of the method in international construction projects. Using the projects in Copenhagen and Hong Kong as examples, he explained how the technology works and its advantages in meeting various requirements in special civil engineering. The examples clearly illustrated the conditions under which the method can be used and the experience gained in the process. This was followed by numerous discussions with specialized companies, planners, and users regarding potential applications in future projects.
terra infrastructure was also represented with an information booth at the 39th Baugrundtagung in Leipzig (September 23–26). For B. Eng. Andrej Schwarz, Head of the Steel Section Engineering Division at terra infrastructure, the event ranks among the most important technical conferences for geotechnical engineering in the German-speaking world. The lecture program covered current developments and research findings in foundation engineering, special civil engineering, tunnel construction, and infrastructure construction, as well as their practical applications. In addition to contractors, participants included geotechnical consultants, engineering firms, scientists, and clients. For terra infrastructure, the focus was primarily on discussions with planners and geotechnical engineers regarding technical requirements and potential applications of VibroDrill technology.x
Faster Drilling with VibroDrill
“VibroDrill technology connects conventional drilling with high-frequency vibrations,” explains Schwarz. “These vibrations reduce penetration resistance in the ground and facilitate drilling progress. Depending on the building ground and application, this enables higher drilling rates and reduced tool wear.” The method has already been successfully used in numerous specialized civil engineering projects, including challenging international building projects.
Many Contacts, Positive Results
Schwarz, Müller, and Haupt are very satisfied with how the three events went. There was great interest in terra infrastructure’s product portfolio and VibroDrill technology, as well as a willingness to discuss specific applications and real-world experiences. During the Geofluid events, contacts with international specialized civil engineering firms were facilitated. At the Drilling Technology Days, technical details and practical experience were emphasized. The Ground Engineering Conference, in particular, provided an opportunity to exchange ideas with planners and geotechnical engineers. Overall, terra infrastructure was able to strengthen numerous existing business relationships and establish new contacts.
