terra infrastructure receives TÜV certifications to DIN EN ISO 9001 and DIN EN ISO 14001
Good news for terra infrastructure GmbH: the company, which ranks amongst the leading providers in civil engineering, port construction and special civil engineering, was certified in June by TÜV Nord CERT GmbH for its environmental and quality management systems. This provides independent confirmation of what terra infrastructure considers fundamental to its identity: environmental awareness and the quality of its products and services.
Quality, sustainability and a commitment to continuous improvement are central to terra infrastructure’s ethos. These core elements of the company’s practices have now been officially recognised by TÜV Nord CERT GmbH for the first time with the award of the DIN EN ISO 14001 certificate for environmental management, and have previously been officially confirmed on multiple occasions with the DIN EN ISO 9001 certificate for quality management. In addition, the subsidiary Walter Hartmann Industrie-Großanstriche, maschinelle Sandstrahlentrostung GmbH & Co. KG has been successfully integrated into the existing management system.
Comprehensive audit
The audit focused in particular on the further development of internal processes and the requirements for effective quality and environmental management. During the recertification to DIN EN ISO 9001, the effectiveness of the established quality management system in the areas of development, production, was confirmed. machining and finishing, mounting, the sale and hire of materials and spare parts, as well as service and repair work for products in the Steel Section and Anchor Equipment, Machinery and Trench Shoring divisions at terra infrastructure, the company’s first-time certification in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001 demonstrates that environmental aspects are systematically integrated into the company’s processes. The audit focuses, for example, on the efficient use of resources, the continuous reduction of environmental impacts and the extent to which sustainable practices are embedded in day-to-day operations in the long term.
Confirmation by an independent body
DIN EN ISO 14001 is the most comprehensive environmental management and audit system for the continuous improvement of the environmental performance of companies and organisations. It sets out requirements for environmental management throughout the entire value chain. DIN EN ISO 9001 certification, on the other hand, is a global standard designed to enable companies to optimise their processes and respond flexibly to customer requirements.
“We are delighted with these successful certifications. They represent independent confirmation that we are continuously developing our processes and taking responsibility towards our customers, employees and the environment. The integration of our subsidiary into the management system is a further important and logical step along this path,” says Stephan Theis, safety engineer at terra infrastructure.
As a globally active project and solutions partner specialising in shoring, infrastructure and civil engineering, the company delivers safe, efficient and sustainable solutions in civil engineering, port construction and special civil engineering. Its product portfolio covers three areas: Steel Section, Machinery and Trench Shoring. It is part of terra infrastructure’s core ethos to provide holistic, bespoke support for construction projects – from consultation and planning, through the selection of suitable systems, to the provision of material and Machinery – in order to achieve safe, economical and sustainable solutions tailored to the specific requirements. In addition to the resource-efficient use of materials, this also encompasses the long-established equipment hire business, which supports the circular economy.
Energy management certification planned
terra infrastructure regards the audit process as very constructive: “Through the successful certifications in quality management and environmental management, TÜV NORD has made a decisive contribution to our corporate development. Thanks to this informed perspective outside the organisation, we have been able to optimise internal processes in a targeted manner, identify untapped potential and close existing gaps in a sustainable way,” says Theis.
With a view to further development, the company is already preparing for the next step. Certification to DIN EN ISO 50001 for energy management is planned for early 2027.
