Added value in terms of efficiency and health and safety

With the new KRINGS KV-2500 shoring grapple, terra infrastructure presents an innovative solution that makes the handling of shoring boxes in civil engineering more efficient and safer.

When specialist expertise is pooled in a targeted manner, technological advancements result. terra infrastructure GmbH has impressively demonstrated this with its latest innovation. The KRINGS KV-2500 shoring grab has just been launched on the market, having been developed in close cooperation between the Trench Shoring and Alsfeld Machinery divisions. It significantly simplifies construction site processes, as it eliminates the need to attach the shoring boxes manually using Chains. Instead, positioning, lifting and insertion into the trench are carried out fully self-actuated / automatically via lifting eyes.

Automatic gripping without stop chains

Carsten Evertz, Product Manager for Trench Shoring at terra infrastructure, provides the description of how this pioneering solution works as follows: “The KRINGS KV-2500 shoring grab uses a hydraulic mechanism to grip the shoring panel at its centre. This allows the box to be lifted, positioned and expanded with precision, without the need for manual intervention by staff. The tension force amounts to up to 6.0 tonnes.” The 360-degree rotary mechanism motor facilitates pinpoint accuracy. To enable civil engineering firms to integrate this innovation into their day-to-day site operations without major process changeovers, terra infrastructure offers retrofit kits for existing boxes that do not yet have the required attachment points. The shoring grapple and the corresponding adaptor for all standard excavator quick release couplers are available for hire or purchase. A transport box for the safe storage of the shoring grab on the site is also available.

According to field sales representative Jürgen Klausmann, the KRINGS KV-2500 shoring grab has already passed its first tests on the site to the satisfaction of all involved: “We received a great deal of positive feedback from excavator operators when using the prototype. The team at the test site has already decided to purchase it, as the mounted equipment delivers significant time savings. The physical strain on site personnel is also noticeably reduced, as they do not have to handle the stop chains. This also significantly improves health and safety.”

Available in three model sizes

The model designation ‘2500’ indicates that the shoring grab is suitable for box internal dimensions of up to 2.50 metres. The minimum dimension is 0.64 metres. To maximise the installation area for this new development in civil engineering and to provide the right solution for a wide variety of requirements in Trench Shoring, terra infrastructure offers the shoring grab in a total of three model sizes. The KRINGS KV-2500 shoring grab is thus flanked by a smaller and a larger ‘brother’.

This collaboration between the Machinery and Trench Shoring divisions has thus produced a technical innovation that sets new standards in terms of health and safety, efficiency and ease of use on the site.
